ARTISTS HAVE UNTIL MARCH 1, 2024 TO APPLY TO THE CREATIVE CATALYST PROGRAM

Applications are now open to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality’s Creative Catalyst Program for the 2024-25 year.

The program’s goal to is to be a catalyst for early-stage artists to advance in their career or for artists to explore new avenues of creativity.

The program will award between $500 and $2,500 in non-repayable funding for the creation and presentation of new works from artists who reside in The Third.

The Creative Catalyst Program was unanimously passed by CBRM council in August 2023 to support the development of professional artists in the municipality.

Last year more than 50 artists applied for the funding.

Projects are chosen by a jury of arts professionals who will judge the artistic merit, quality of work, feasibility, and the growth potential of the artist.

The Creative Catalyst Program requires funding recipients to:

·       be 16 years of age or older

·       be a current resident of the CBRM

·       create and present new artistic work

·       present the project within the CBRM

·       complete the project by February 28, 2025.

Artists of all skills levels and mediums who meet eligibility criteria are welcome to apply. Consideration is made in the jurying process for projects created or presented in rural communities, projects created by marginalized or under-represented populations, new or emerging artists, and artists living with self defined barriers.

Applications close on March 1, 2024.
