Going out to eat has always been a favourite thing for me to do. I love food – especially when I don’t have to clean up the mess that comes with meal making. It doesn’t have to be a four-course meal at the most expensive place in town. It can be a coffee and treat at a local shop. And in the Third we have some great restos to try.

The Sandbar Resturant and Lounge in Dominion is a great place to enjoy some local food, great service, and entertainment. It has a large menu with diverse offerings. The restaurant is constantly trying to create new menu items. In fact, the day we were there the kitchen was working on a new burger.

It was lunchtime when we went and they had some great looking lunch specials at a reasonable price. Starting at $10.99 we could choose a meal with a side. (Although some of the lunch options didn’t come with a side.) I chose the half buffalo chicken wrap with fries ($10.99). At first, I was worried that wouldn’t be enough; I was hungry when we arrived and considered adding one of the pastas, which included a piece of garlic bread.

My friend ordered the half cranberry chicken wrap with fries ($10.99). We were both pleased with the portion, the taste, and the service. Even though I was starving, I was glad I didn’t order the pasta; I wouldn’t have had the room.

I believe that if I am going to pay for a good meal then I should get a good meal. There is nothing worse than going out to treat yourself only to get food that isn’t hot, tasty, or that comes with poor service.

Our meals at the Sandbar and our overall experience were great. So, if you want to try some great food at a reasonable price (even with a drink added on to the bill!) and be greeted by a pleasant server, I recommend trying the lunch specials at the Sandbar.

Lunch specials are Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. If you are super hungry you might want to consider ordering off the regular menu. One of my favourite items is the buffalo chicken poutine – when it arrives super-hot.

PS: I enjoyed the lunch so much I forgot to take a picture…next time!
