“I would like to thank all the people of Cape Breton that help out homeless people. I am one of them. I would like to thank Steve and Larry from the local Presbyterian Church that come by once a week and drop off food for the homeless people at the shelter. Thank you so much; it gives me faith again in myself and others. I feel so fortunate that people care. There have been so many, I wish I had all their names.”

“I tried to pay for my bus fare on the bus last week, only to find out that I left my card at home. A Thirder quickly got up and told me I would get this for you and paid my fare; I thanked him and told him I would return the favor soon.”

“I’m currently in 8th grade. I had been in remote learning due to COVID-19 and barely returned to in-person. When I first started, I realized how much things had changed. However, there was one teacher who managed to see through it. I was in her class, and whenever she could, she directly pointed the conversation to me so my classmates could hear what I had to say. I became a little more open every time. It’s still difficult now, but I’m working on being braver. It’s been hard at home and school, but I’m still going. Because of her, because she believes in me.”

“I had to go to the ER a few weeks ago and I just had to rave about Dr Jason Osborne, who, despite being busy and exhausted at 5 am, took his time treating me and explaining next steps. I felt respected and cared for. Thank you for doing what you do in Sydney and keep up the amazing work!”
