THE BONDED HEARTS BAZAAR: A (FREE) NAUGHTY NIGHT MARKET TO GET YOU READY FOR V-DAY

The first-of-its-kind alternative market-style event featuring Sydney’s most creative vendors, artisans , and entertainers is coming to the Third, and just in time for Valentine’s Day.

“This type of entertainment experience is usually only available in larger centres,” says Ocean Phi Long Le, one of of the three organizers for the free event.

Le, along with Katie Hodder, and Aneal Virick organized what they hope will be the first of many similar events. The event is sponsored by The Sydney Odditorium.

The evening will stress everything fun with a focus on creating and promoting a body-positive environment.

There are many different body types and many ways to express those body types, and all will be represented at the Naughty Night Market.

Sydney is becoming very progressive and liberal. It is time to offer the residents an event that demonstrates that lifestyle, said Le.

There will be information booths about body and sexual health. For example, learn how to use sex toys, or if you’re not a sex toy rookie, maybe it’s time to explore the full spectrum of sex toy pleasure. Local sex shop Pleasures and Treasures will have some of its merchandise on hand to demonstrate.

The Bonded Hearts Bazaar will provide both a platform for local artists to showcase their talent and a venue to support the artists at their booths. There will be a stage for live entertainment, an area for vendors’ booths, and a lounge area to chill and enjoy a beverage.

The organizers want to create a light-fun event where everyone feels welcome and entertained in some way. “There will be something to tickle everyone who comes,” said Le.

Some of the entertainment throughout the night includes a live pianist, risqué tarot readings; sexy short story readings; burlesque performer, Honey de Mele, for those with the flair for the dramatic; and Two-spirit Drag Artist from Unama’ki Nykitene will be showcasing the incredible drag on the island.

Le says that there will be a great selection of Valentine’s Day gift ideas from local artisans at the bazaar. For example, the vendors will be offering sassy cookies with messages, locally made whips, unique and naughty 3D prints, dark art, and even pole dancing lessons.

This is the first of what the organizers hope to be regular markets. The plan is to start small and grow into three annual events around Valentine’s Day, Pride, and Halloween.

As for this Saturday night’s free event, they are trying to create a light-fun event where everyone feels welcome and entertained in some way. “There will be something to tickle everyone who comes,” said Le.

“Plus, we all have pent-up energy. We all need somewhere to let loose after this.”

Le says the Bazaar is a good – and convenient – place to do that. The free event is being held on the second floor of the Joan Harris Pavilion. “It is a beautiful venue. There is a giant piano, it’s on the water…It has the feel that we wanted and the space for what we needed.”

Le notes that the Pavilion is also close to downtown, so if marketgoers want to keep the night going, everyone will be within walking distance to the dance floors.

The Bonded Hearts Bazaar: A Naughty Night Market takes place this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the second floor of the Joan Harris Pavilion on Sydney’s waterfront. It is a 19+ event. The bar will be open.

Did we mention it’s free?
