THE WHITE POPPY

Canadians are familiar with the red poppy worn to honour the ultimate sacrifice made for us by our military in wartime. Less familiar is the white poppy, worn to commemorate all the victims of war, both military and civilian (in today's wars, over 90% of victims are civilians, often women and children).

By encouraging us to tackle the causes of war and fostering nonviolent alternatives, the white poppy helps build a worldwide culture of peace. Locally, white poppies can be requested from Sean Howard, PQCB coordinator, at sean@peacequestcapebreton.ca.
