Tech Tea with Teens

A New Horizons for Seniors Digital Literacy Program. Are you an older adult with questions about how to use your laptop, tablet, or mobile phone? Bring your device to the library and enjoy some tea & treats while receiving basic technology help from students in Sydney Academy’s O2 program. No registration required. Please note that the volunteers will not be familiar with library-specific apps like Libby or PressReader. These drop-in sessions are meant to help you perform simple tasks on your devices.

16th Annual Knit-a-thon Fundraiser

McConnell Library, Sydney

10:30am-2:30pm

Join knitters and crocheters of all skill levels to make items for charity with donated yarn and raise funds for children’s programs at all CBRL branches! Participants may ask friends and family to sponsor their efforts, or make a donation of their own. Enjoy socializing, a light lunch, and a chance to win terrific raffle prizes! Check-in is from 10:00am to 10:30am, with the Knit-a-thon running from 10:30am-2:30pm. Knitters and crocheters are welcome to come for all or part of the day. Only those in attendance on the day of the Knit-a-thon are eligible to win prizes. All knitted goods are donated to charities that provide free clothes to families in need in Cape Breton and Victoria Counties. These include: Salvation Army, Every Woman’s Centre, Transition House, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Centre, Neonatal, and Mother & Baby units, Hospice, Community Homeless Shelter, Northside Community Cares, and Membertou Wellness Centre.
