Day in the Life of a Coalminer

Situated along the North Atlantic Coastline, the Cape Breton Miners’ Museum is a tribute to the miners and their families. Take a virtual mine tour to learn the history of mining and the evolution of coal through this immersive exhibit. Then, dressed in a cape and hard hat, visitors join a retired miner on a tour of the coal mine, and learn about his work and life, as well as the industry and culture. Bike Tool Kit Demonstration

Learn to use Bike Repair Tools & Borrow them from your library! This summer CBRM, Victoria County and Velo Cape Breton partnered to supply Cape Breton Regional Library branches with bike tool kits that can be borrowed with a library card. Each tool kit contains 17 tools. In this workshop Bill from Framework Cycle & Fitness will give a demonstration on how to use some of the tools so you can feel more confident attempting repairs or replacing bike components. The library will be getting more tool kits soon, so this is a great opportunity to learn how to use them! Presented in partnership with Velo Cape Breton & CBRM Recreation

Join Christopher Woodford (Recreation & Physical Activity Co-ordinator Victoria Co.) for a demonstration on using urban walking poles, followed by a short walk around the library’s neighbourhood.
